Classes

I have been teaching beginning blacksmithing classes for about 8 years. I now consider myself to be an advanced intermediate beginning blacksmith or perhaps an intermediate advanced beginning blacksmith and I teach at approximately that level.

And I call what I teach “Neo pre-post-apocalyptic blacksmithing.”

The classes I teach include much more than just heating up and hammering on metal. Instruction includes:

  • types of metals
  • types of fuels – coal, charcoal, propane, wood
  • tools – necessary and desirable
  • sourcing metals, fuels, tools
  • Fire

I started out in blacksmithing by making my own forge, bellows, tongs and charcoal and I have continued from there. In my classes I share everything I have learned in the process of learning this art from the ground up with the aim of spending as little money as possible and instead making and scrounging as much as possible. Sort of a post-apocalyptic take on blacksmithing.

CLASSES

I can do 1 day Intro to Blacksmithing classes or ongoing, more in depth classes.

Classes can be one on one or for groups up to 4 students.

I have worked with and am willing to work with children as young as 11.
